VENTILATION For Jay E. Adams
Not long ago there was a psychological theory called "Ventilation". I am not sure if he has already died everywhere. But theory or not theory, it seems to be a popular idea still – if you have something being waved inside, it is better that you extract it to yourself, for your own good.
“What is wrong with that?”
Since several things. I think to mention at least two.
First, the life centralized in one himself is clear. What imports what it spends to another person when I spill all my anger in it – here the one that counts it is me who is!
“Well, I can see that. What is the second thing?”
Allow me to read yourself what God says on this matter in Proverbs 29:11:
“The idiot gives free rein to his anger,
but the wise person suppresses it.” (Lbla)
“Wao! He did not know that God had spoken about this matter!
Quite explicit. Who wants to appear to himself as an idiot? And it does not hurt you “to suppress it” as the Freudian ones think, neither. In fact, while more hysterical you put yourself and finally you burst, worse there put themselves the things – not better. Not only for you – but for all what they surround to you.
And you know it well, you are going to have to go round there apologizing. To ventilate the anger is something so much in all the forms that you could imagine. Take it as an insurance, the "ventilation" is not an option for the believer.
Something to think it: no?
“Skylight that yes!”
