A People Different from All the rest

“I do not ask you to extract them of the world, but you protect them from the evil. As well as I am not of the world, they are not of the world either.” – Juan 17:15-16

The Christians we are citizens of the kingdom of the skies. Christ did not pray so that the Father was extracting us of this world but so that he was keeping us of the evil. The key word of the Sermon of the Mount is “do not be like they”. And the reason is that although we are in the world, we are not of the world. Our citizenship is in the skies. We are citizens of the kingdom of the skies here in the ground.

God always, by virtue of his sovereign election, has sued his people a conduct different from the others. To the God's newly redeemed village in the Ancient Testament he warned him: "I am the Gentleman his God. You will not imitate the customs of Egypt, where earlier they were living, not those of Canaán either, where it took them. They will not behave according to his articles of association, but they will put into practice my prescripts and will observe attentively my laws. I am the Gentleman his God. "-Levíticos 18:2-4

In the New Testament, apostle Pedro applying the same beginning that appears in Exodus 19:5-6, says to the new generations of the God's people today: "you are a select lineage, real priesthood, holy nation, people acquired for God's possession, in order that you announce the virtues of that one that called us from the darkness to his admirable light; since you in another time were not a people, but now you are the God's people; you had not reached compassion, but now you have reached compassion” (2:9-10).

Regrettably, many churches and called contemporary Christians, walk so disorientated that they think that while more they look alike to the world, more effective his mission will be. And it must be a trick of the same devil, because it has done to them of disobeying Christ's order “not to be like they.” Little by little we have been extending our "shops" up to “Sodom and Gomorrah”, that it is already difficult to differ some from others. We dress like them, speak like them, sing like them, live like them. We have put the world in the church. Now a good shepherd has to be a joker; a good church, which presents the best spectacle in his “Center of Fine arts”. The contemporary church can say to the lame person:“ I have gold and silver, of what I have give you. Come so that you entertain with the pleasantries and occurrences of our modern shepherd, and with the same musical rhythms of the world but with Christian letter. Moreover, you even can dance them if you want. But what the contemporary church cannot say to the modern man it is: In Christ's name, get up and walk.”

Consequently, the contemporary churches are full of spiritual lame persons, who have never experienced the power of the kingdom of God and of the name of resuscitated Christ, but as in some funeral contemporaries they liven up the death to the drums sound while they approach inexorably the grave that they have dug themselves.
